Greetings friend I’m Roland Albertus and welcome to rolandalbertus.com!
This is usually the part where the host of the blog introduces themselves in the third person by referring to their academic qualifications and achievements in their respective fields and perhaps someday this page will follow suit. But for now, I don’t have a theological degree of note, I don’t have a bestselling book or a critically acclaimed cd and according to even the most modest evangelical standards I would not be considered an expert on, well, anything. However, there is one area where I am a bit of an expert and that is in the area of needing a savior. I have failed so many times and even in all my years of being a Christian I have found myself at the end of my rope needing Jesus to save me multiple times over.
So why start a theological website?
Well, words have always been a great source of enlightenment and comfort to me. So you can think of this site as a diary of sorts. As I share my walk with God in my endeavor to know him intimately, love him passionately and serve him faithfully, I hope to inspire you to do the same. I think this is of paramount importance because I have met many Christians who are satisfied with either knowing or loving or serving God. Seldom do you find Christians devoted to being transformed by the gospel to the degree that their entire being is captivated by God and yet this is what God desires from us (Matt. 22:37-39). It is a relationship with God that is planted on the knowledge of who He is, propelled by a passion for who God is and expressed in a transformed and surrendered life because of who He is, that honors God and satisfies the soul of the believer.
Since Christianity has been around for thousands of years it has become increasingly more difficult to separate truth from fiction. Who is God? What does it mean to be a Christian? Who are we as believers? Answers to these questions are often times wrapped in layers of good intentions, half-truths and blatant lies but we have all we need—with the bible, the holy spirit and the community of believers—to navigate our way through all the obstacles that are trying to obstruct our view of Gods glory in the face of Jesus Christ. Hopefully this website will serve as a small but meaningful lamp guiding you on your journey through the night until the day of our Lord’s return. Until then I offer you Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian believers:
For this reason, because I have heard of your
faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward
all the saints,
I do not cease to give thanks for you,
remembering you in my prayers,
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give you a spirit of
wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge
having the eyes of your hearts enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope to which
he has called you, what are the riches of his
glorious inheritance in the saints,
and what is the immeasurable greatness of
his power toward us who believe, according
to the working of his great might
that he worked in Christ when he raised him
from the dead and seated him at his right
hand in the heavenly places,
far above all rule and authority and power
and dominion, and above every name that is
named, not only in this age but also in the
one to come.
And he put all things under his feet and gave
him as head over all things to the *
church (Ekklesia, community of believers) ,
which is his body, the fullness of him who
fills all in all.
